I have tried to answer any questions that you all might have....if I have missed any feel free to contact me directly and I will answer any question I can.

Dates, FYI & FAQs:

Remember, all spots in all leagues are on a first come, first serve basis.  When each league hits its predetermined number, no more teams will be allowed in that league.

If you want to be guaranteed a spot in the league of your choice, enroll and pay dues ASAP.

Each returning team is allowed one split who may also enroll during early registration.

A team is not guaranteed a spot in a league of their choice until:

bullet

The team captain completes the online registration form

bullet

bullet

Attend all required meetings

bullet

All players have signed waivers.

Fall 2008 FYI's

There are only up to 40 spots in both the Competitive and Intermediate Leagues and they are on a first come first serve basis.  the Laid back league will have 16 teams.

We will be at as many as 8 fields:  Hindmen, Benny Craig and six at Interstate

Teams from all leagues will rotate from field to field

Most teams will play one game per Sunday.

The Fall 08' Season will be 8 weekends long and each team will play 9 games.

The Umpire Schedule will be posted before the season starts

Dues can be mailed to me or paid via Paypal on the website homepage once the dates permit

All Players both new and returning need new waivers signed for the Spring 08 season.  Only new players need waivers signed for the fall

Waivers and rosters can be turned in before the first game after dues have been paid to save your spot

Players can only play, coach, captain or be involved in one team per league

Teams can only sub in players if they have 6 present and then they can only sub up to a total of 9 players.  No more than 3 subs are allowed.  This pertains to female players as well.  If you are short female players, you can sub but your total roster can still not exceed 9 players.  This means you may have to choose between the out for the missing female or sitting down a male players so that you can borrow a female(s) to have the required 4 and still not have more than 9 total.

FAQ's

Is it the same great game I played as a kid?

Yes it is and it rocks!!!  It is the same game you remember with the big, bouncy, wonderful red ball only now we can drink beer while playing!!!  The rules are now organized and the competition is FIERCE!!!!  Everyone wants to win a trophy, drink beer and have fun!!!

I had a team in the past, does this guarantee me a spot in the upcoming season?

“Charter teams,” those who played in the recent past have first right or refusal on keeping their original spots.  See registration dates

What Do I need to do to get a team together?

  1. You need to firstly read and understand all the rules of the LRKA.  They are included on this site.

  2. You need to decide whether or not you are going Competitive, Intermediate, Novice or Laid Back

  3. Then you need to fill your roster with as few as 9 players or as many as 18 players.  Remember that at least 4 players must be female.   This can be done online.

  4. You must see that each member of your team signs the waivers which is included in this packet.

  5. You must then turn in your team dues  and waivers to Larry Betz by before due dates.

  6. You must then come up with a kickass team name and  T-shirts

  7. Read the List of Captain’s Duties included in the rules packet.

When does the season start?

The Fall 2008 season will start Sunday August 17, 2008.

Where will the games be played?

The games will be played in parks paid for and reserved by the LRKA in Little Rock.  They will be Hindmen, Benny Craig and  6 fields at Interstate.

When will the final team schedules be out?

The final schedule will be out after the deadline for team registration has passed.

I want to play but do not have a team, can I still join the LRKA?

Yes, you can!  We are a very social group of people who are always looking for new members.  The best thing to do if you are looking for a team to join is show up at one of our open practices or at the games and introduce yourself.  Contact me directly, I know first hand teams that are needing players.

Who can play?

Anyone who has signed a waiver and is under the age of 100 is invited to play.  We ask that most of our members be over 21 since drinking does take place.   Players under 21 are required to be at least 18 and will be the "ward' of their team captain.

How large is the Little Rock Kickball Association?

This will be our tenth  season and we have topped out at 102 teamsOur inaugural spring season was a huge success with 16 teams starting out and as many 300 people attending our end of season party!  The  2nd Season was even bigger with 29 teams and an even bigger party!!!  3rd Season: 36 teams and season four had 51 teams!!!  This is great way to meet people!!!

How do I go about getting a team sponsor?

You are not required to have a team sponsor but they are helpful for helping pay league dues and buy t-shirts.  Getting a business to sponsor you is very easy.  All you have to do is ask.

Where can I get T-shirts made?

Many places make t-shirts around LR.  Many of our members use Matt at Section 8.  He treats us very well and is very creative.  You can reach him at Section 8, 664-8815.   Also try Altura Graphics at 753-4925.

How will I be informed of any new developments?

At the top of this page there should be a link to submit your email address so that you can get all of the updates automatically.

I would like to volunteer and help make the season a huge success how do I do that?

Just let me know you want to help and I will find something for you to do.  I appreciate everything that others can do to help make our league a success.

What are the dues for?

The money goes towards balls, fields, trophies, website, merchandise, printer ink, awards, publicity and most importantly, our huge, kickass end of season party!!!

What is WAKA and why aren’t we a member?

WAKA, if you have searched on the web, is The World Adult Kickball Association.  They consider themselves to be the center of the kickball universe.  Well, I am out to prove them wrong!!!  They are a FOR PROFIT group and it costs between $60 and $70 dollars per person to join them…to play a kids game!!!!  They only provide the same exact service I do but make a huge profit off us wanting to have fun!!!  I said “No thank you!” to them.  We are independent of them and play by different rules.   SEE THE KICKBALL REBEL ALLIANCE PAGE

I am interested in being a league sponsor, how do I do that?

Man, I wish this was really a FAQ!!! Basically, anyone wanting help sponsor our league or donate goodies for our end of season party just needs to contact me.  It would be a wonder that I have not hit you up already!!!

Why are some of the rules different from baseball?

Even though kickball is obviously a baseball inspired sport, we aren’t playing baseball!!!  Many of the rules are the same.  We have changed some of the rules to make the game more fun, competitive and unique.

Who are you and who made you an authority on kickball?

I am Larry Betz, The founder of the LRKA and the Grand Poobah of All Things Kickball.  I started the league in the spring of '04 so that we can all have fun, promote goodwill and become active in our community.  It is mine and my girlfriend’s countless hours that got this baby flying and with that hard work comes certain privileges, i.e. I get to be the Grand Poobah of All Things Kickball.  I try and consider everyone’s input and opinions and even invite it in regards to kickball related matters but sometimes I just have to make a call on an issue, right or wrong.  Basically, I am dictator for life.

What’s the number one rule in kickball?

The granddaddy of all rules is:  “NO WHINING!”  Remember, it is only a kid’s game.
