Fall 2012 Season of the LRKA Sand Volleyball League Rules
COST PER TEAM: The per team is
ROSTER: The maximum number of players allowed on your roster is 10. At minimum, each team must have 6 players with at least 3 females. All players must be at least 18 years old. Any player under the age of 21 caught drinking at Flying DD will face immediate expulsion from the league. No team may have more than 3 multi-players and none of those players may be teammates on other teams. No person may play on more than 3 teams. It is up to teams and players to work out conflicts with schedule and matches.
UNIFORM: Teams are not required to having matching uniforms and all players must play barefooted. "Watersocks" or ultra-light footwear is allowed.
GAME LOCATION: All games will take place at Flying DD located at 4601 South University Avenue Little Rock, AR 72204. http://flyingdd.com . COURT NUMBERS: The sand court closest to the bar is "Court 1". The furthest is "Court 2".
WAIVERS: In order to participate in the league, each player must sign the team waiver and assumption of risk.
SPORTSMANSHIP: LRKA ZTP Rules will apply and players and teams can face strict sanctions for poor sportsmanship or overly aggressive play.
GAME FORMAT: Each hour long match will consists of 3 games. All 3 games are played regardless if one team wins the first 2.
At minimum, 4 players are required to play. If a team does not possess the needed amount of players to start, the opposing team will receive a win for the first game of the match. If the team does not possess enough players by the beginning of the second game, a forfeit will be assessed. Teams may continue to finish out the games but the opposing team will still receive the match win.
GHOST PLAYERS: Teams that are short players must designate a spot in their serving rotation for a “ghost player.” The space(s) is where the other player would play in the rotation if he/she were present. When the “ghost player” rotates to the serving position, the team will automatically lose their serve. If a team is 2 players short, they would play with two “ghost players.” Players arriving late may automatically take over the “ghost player’s” position at any time during the progress of the game.
PICK-UP PLAYERS: Teams missing rostered players, may not pick up players, rather they must either follow forfeit rules or ghost player rules. Any team caught playing unrostered players will forfeit that game.
FALL 12 SEASON: All games will happen on Tuesday evenings at Flying DD. Games will start at 6pm and be scheduled in 1 hour increments. The last games will start at 9pm. The regular season will be a 6 week season (with 6 games) starting September 4 and ending October 9. Playoffs and Championship Tournament will be Tuesday 16. If the season fills up, additional games will be played on Thursday.
RANKINGS AND PLAYOFFS: Teams will receive 4 points for winning all three games in a match (A sweep), 2 points for winning two of three games in a match, and only 1 point for winning one game of a match. Any team that loses all 3 games will lose 1 point. Teams will be penalized 1 point for each game forfeited (up to 3 for a match) and 1 point for missing assigned umping/judging duties. Teams will be ranked based on awarded points, match record, and then game record. Any ties will be broken by head to head records. If no tie breaker can be determined at that point, random drawing will determine ranking. The team that ultimately wins the championship will win free entry into the either the next season of sand volleyball or the LRKA. The team captain gets the credit and may use it as they see fit.
